It is often unclear where good intentions turn into unlawful action. We are delighted to invite Real Estate Balance members to a webinar considering the difference between positive discrimination and positive action and look at how this has played out with examples.
Christine Young, Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills specialising in employment law, and Freia Kortekaas Sierra, Head of Talent at international Real Estate and Industrial Executive Search firm, Granger Reis, will run through key definitions, highlight examples of positive discrimination in the press and go on to provide practical tips and advice. The session will end with an audience Q&A session.
Christine Young, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills
Christine is a Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills specialising in employment law and employment-related data protection and data subject rights. She advises on contentious, transactional and advisory matters both domestically and in a cross-border context.
Christine has a full service advisory practice including advising on investigations, executive hires and departures, team moves, misuse of confidential information, enforcement of restrictive covenants cases and conduct and capability issues as well as drafting bonus arrangements. Christine advises on board level employment issues and works closely with the firm's regulatory team on the employment aspects of the contentious departures. Christine has advised on claims in the Employment Tribunal and High Court including high value whistleblowing and discrimination claims and seeking injunctive relief. A large part of Christine’s practice is advising on high profile, sensitive matters for clients, particularly investigations focusing on #metoo issues, bullying, discrimination and harassment matters.
Freia Kortekaas Sierra, Head of Talent, Granger Reis
Freia is the Head of Talent at Granger Reis, an international Real Estate and Industrial Executive Search firm. In her current role she oversees hiring as well as the wider employee lifecycle at Granger Reis.
Prior to this she focused on C-suite and Director level hiring for clients across industries with another Executive Search in their Amsterdam office.
Additionally, Freia received a master’s degree in Management of Cultural Diversity from Tilburg University.
