Breaking Boundaries through Diversity and Inclusion

Real Estate Balance joined forces with Equilibrium Network at the London Festival of Architecture event, Breaking Boundaries through Diversity and Inclusion, on 18 June at Foster + Partners in Battersea. Guests braved the torrential rain to listen to an incredible panel that included Kate Murphy, Partner and a key project architect for Foster’s Bloomberg HQ in the City, Paul King, Managing Director, Sustainability & Social Impact - Europe at Lendlease and Real Estate Balance corporate member, and Real Estate Balance MD, Kaela Fenn-Smith. The discussion, chaired by Pam Alexander OBE, a founder member of Equilibrium, focussed on the work being done to tackle the gender imbalance in the real estate sector and built environment, especially at senior levels. Topics considered included:

  • boundaries broken to support women’s progression
  • best practice today crossing the boundaries of different attitudes and expectations to deliver innovation and creativity
  • bridging the boundaries of work, family and life to benefit all

Kaela Fenn-Smith presented our new research “Fast-tracking gender balance across real estate, 2019” and emphasised how gender balance has become a business critical issue for real estate companies.
