Cambridge University Land Society Property Careers Fair

Real Estate Balance attended for the first time the Cambridge University Land Society’s (‘CULS’) ‘Property Careers Fair’ at the end of October at the Guildhall, Cambridge.

This year’s event was focused on careers in real estate, planning and the environment with about 30 representative firms from across the industry.
This included some of our corporate members such as Bidwells, British Land, CBRE, Deloitte, Eastdil Secured, Grosvenor, Homes England, JLL, Knight Frank, LaSalle, Legal & General and Savills.

Ian Marcus OBE, President of CULS, extended the invitation to REB to raise awareness amongst the student body attending the role it plays in its aims of improving diversity and inclusion in the industry so that it better reflects the society it serves and acts as the attraction for future talent looking to make careers in the sector.

There was a very good turnout from students from the Land Economy faculty and provided a great opportunity for students to learn of careers available, network with industry employers, talk to industry organisations such as REB and engage with university alumni.

We found students to be enthused by their interest in our sector and by the diversity of the cohort – they seemed to be keen to know not only about career prospects but also what employers were like, such as in terms of their culture.
