Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting

Real Estate Balance and PwC hosted a practical webinar on 14 July 2020 providing the technical details of reporting on ethnicity pay and giving the opportunity to hear from organisations already reporting on ethnicity pay.

Ethnicity pay is an increasingly important topic as seen by the petition calling for the Government to introduce mandatory pay gap reporting, which has reached over 100,000 signatories and so will be debated in Parliament.

Real Estate Balance works closely with PwC in many areas including our bi-annual surveys and more recently on the reported 2018 gender pay gap and bonus gap figures for the real estate sector.

The webinar panel comprised:

  • Jake Hobson, Diversity, Inclusion and Responsible Business Manager, CBRE & Co-Chair of CBRE’s Ability Network
  • Katy Bennett, Diversity and Inclusion Consulting Director
  • Dianne Greyson, Director Equilibrium Mediation Consulting, Managing Partner Synergised Solutions and Founder #EthnicityPayGap
  • Saira Choudhry, Partner, PwC

During the webinar, PwC provided technical details required to report on ethnicity pay, covering topics including:

  • Introduction to the likely legislation requirements
  • An overview of what systems and data is required in order to report
  • Examples of companies who have disclosed, what their figures and narrative look like and the benefits of disclosing early
  • Data collection issues
  • Dealing with reputational damage

Participants then had the opportunity to hear the experiences of organisations who are already reporting on ethnicity pay and ask questions around their current and future plans in this area. The webinar shared best practice approaches and practical solutions to complex issues such as GDPR, as well as better understand current and future market practice.
