Real Estate Balance Speed Mentoring Event

On Tuesday 12th June, Real Estate Balance held its 4th speed mentoring event.

On this occasion the event was kindly hosted by The Crown Estate on the top floor of their superb offices at 1 St James' Market.  The venue was perfect for the occasion, with attendees being able to enjoy the wonderful views of London from the balcony outside during the pre and post session networking drinks.

The evening began with a short introduction to Real Estate Balance by Karen Friebe, Chair of REB's Developing Talent Committee. Hannah Milne , Director of the Crown Estate's regional portfolio, then welcomed the guests to 1 St James' Market and told us a little about her own career.

We were also very fortunate to be joined on the evening by Judith Everett, The Crown Estate's Chief Operating officer who took part as one of our mentors for the evening.

Recurring themes were:

  • Should I leave my current organisation in order to progress my career?
  • How do I achieve a lateral move to a different role within my company ?
  • How best to distinguish myself and my expertise so as to improve my prospects of promotion?

The event was extremely well supported and we had a full house with 30 mentees and 31 mentors attending.  Each mentee spent 20 minutes with 3 different mentors.  We are receiving valuable feedback from attendees which will be collated and used to enable us to plan and where necessary improve on future speed mentoring events.

Many thanks to The Crown Estate for their most generous hosting of the event.  Also thanks to REB's Jo Luxton and Emma Hill for organising the evening, particularly the task of matching mentors and mentees.

Please look out for the announcement of our next speed mentoring event which will be held later in the year.
