Who we are
Real estate industry chair and non executive director
(Real Estate Balance chair)
I was a founder member of Real Estate Balance because I believe passionately that our industry needs to address its approach to diversity. Quite simply, for me this is a moral issue, allowing equal treatment and opportunity for all. But diversity is also good for business and it is our mission to drive that message, as well as the moral issue, hone and help businesses and individuals in real estate to change and grow.
Senior Advisor, Centrus & Non-Exec directorships
(Real Estate Balance vice chair)
I am passionate about inclusive cultures, not only because they enable everyone to have the opportunity to fulfil their potential, but also for the simple reason that diverse organisations are more effective and enjoyable places to work.
Managing Director, Real Estate Balance
I joined Real Estate Balance because I am committed to making a difference. We have already established the organisation as an effective campaigner for gender balance and it is really exciting to be part of our move to shine a spotlight on broader aspects of diversity and inclusion.
Non-Exec Director, Helical Plc & SEGRO Plc. Board member, Hermes PUT
I am delighted to be one of the founder members of Real Estate Balance. We are all working to ensure everyone in our industry can reach their full potential in their careers. Together we can make a real difference.
Chair of the Shopkeepers Campaign
It’s an Islamic proverb that a lot of different flowers make a bouquet and Real Estate Balance’s campaigns over the last five years have supported the industry in building the bouquets. But there’s a long journey ahead before we can say the job is done.
Chief Property Portfolio Officer, M&G Real Estate
Its key that the Real Estate Sector is seen as an attractive market for diverse talent to thrive. One that is representative of a wider society. That's why I'm delighted to be part of Real Estate Balance - in supporting the industry to move the dial on gender and race at all levels.
Senior Advisor, Newbridge Capital Partners
I’m convinced that when people and their organisations commit to working together to lead change and build a more inclusive and diverse workforce, we will ultimately achieve real balance at board and senior executive level. I’m proud to be involved in Real Estate Balance’s efforts in supporting the industry to make change happen and accelerate its progress.
Special advisers to the Board
Partner and Head of Real Estate, KPMG in the UK
Real Estate Balance has already helped the industry move towards a more inclusive approach but there’s so much more we can do. I’m proud to support greater inclusion and diversity in our industry – it will make it a better and more rewarding place to work for everyone.
Pensions Trustee and Real Estate Consultant
The success of any organisation relies on the full potential of its diverse talent. I want to contribute to having a real estate sector that provides opportunity and thrives on the widespread potential of the workforce.
Partner, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner
We’ve huge made progress as an industry since we first started Real Estate Balance. I’m excited that diversity is now so high on everyone’s agenda and that we can make a real difference by encouraging, challenging, supporting, and shining a light on best practice.
Partner, Bird & Bird
The real estate sector has made good progress in achieving greater gender diversity since Real Estate Balance was founded 5 years ago. But there is much more to do if we want to attract and retain the best talent – especially by broadening our reach to ethnic and other minority groups. We want to support our members and the wider real estate sector by campaigning for change on their behalf and delivering high quality and relevant programmes and events to help them to achieve their own diversity goals and help change the makeup of the sector for good.
